WAS No.13: Alabama LB Rashaan Evans

The Washington Redskins will be a much different looking team next season, as they will have Alex Smith at quarterback instead of Kirk Cousins. While their offense has changed, the defense is an area that has needed to be upgraded for a few years now.

With the 13th overall pick, the Redskins will be addressing the defense by selecting linebacker Rashaan Evans from Alabama. As one of the top linebackers in the draft, Evans will be able to step in right away and help the Redskins defense.

In four years at Alabama, Evans was able to total 14 sacks in his final three seasons, including six in his senior year.  One of the nice things about Evans is that he has the size and speed to play in both 4-3 and 3-4 defenses. Most linebackers aren’t able to fit in both defenses, but Evans’ ability to do so makes him a really appealing prospect. For the Redskins at 13, Evans would be a strong addition and help against some talented offenses in the NFC East.
