BUF No. 12 Overall Pick: Virginia Tech LB, Tremaine Edmunds

The Bills are in a weird spot. Despite making the playoffs last season, it almost seems like they are in a rebuild of sorts. It is almost shocking they made the postseason, as they seemed to do everything they could to miss the postseason.

Buffalo could use some help at multiple positions. With the 12th overall pick, we have Buffalo addressing their need at the second level of their defense, selecting Virginia Tech linebacker, Tremaine Edmunds.

Buffalo is landing one of the most complete and productive players in this year’s draft class. Edmunds started every game the past two seasons for Virginia Tech and stuffed the stat sheet. In the past two seasons, 27 games total, Edmunds compiled 202 tackles, 30.5 of which went for a loss. He also added 10 sacks, one interception, five passes defended three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

Outside of Lorenzo Alexander, there isn’t much to write home about among the Bills’ linebackers. Edmunds could easily step into an every-down role from Day 1 and provide a much-needed upgrade in talent at the position.

Based on his performance at the collegiate level, Edmunds has a high ceiling as a pass rusher, something he could reach based on his high character and good work ethic.
