The New England Patriots are wrapping up their preparation for the 2018 NFL Draft this week. The draft will begin on Thursday, April 26th and go through Saturday, April 28th. The Patriots have two selections in the first round and will look to add some impact talent to the roster to help them get back to the Super Bowl.

The Patriots could be active in this year’s draft with so many picks at their disposal. Who will New England select in the first round? We will have to watch and see!

The Cleveland Browns are the first team on the clock. With the first pick in our 2018 NFL First Round Mock Draft, the Browns address their biggest need at quarterback.

CLE No. 1 Overall Pick: USC QB, Sam Darnold

With the first overall pick, we all know that the Cleveland Browns are going to be taking a quarterback. However, with multiple talented ones available, this pick could go a few different ways. While all of the top four quarterbacks have a lot of potential, arguably the safest choice is Sam Darnold from USC.

Prior to the start of the college football season, Darnold was expected to be the No.1 overall pick. However, a somewhat disappointing season for USC and Darnold resulted in his stock going down a bit. USC dealt with a lot of injuries this season, especially to their offensive line, which did not help Darnold have another good season.

With a lot of turnovers and mistakes, Darnold might not be the polished product many thought he was prior to the start of the season. Even though he will be expected to lead the Browns back to the playoffs one day, they did acquire Tyrod Taylor this offseason, who can start for at least part of the season while Darnold learns.

The Browns actually had a pretty solid offseason so far, as some of the talents that they added like Jarvis Landry should help them get some wins this season. Adding Darnold with the first overall pick will give the Browns a quarterback with the potential to be the face of the franchise.
