New England Patriots have 5 players land on PFF Top 101 players list

Pro Football Focus recently released their list of the Top 101 players from 2017. Who made the list from the New England Patriots?

Despite not winning the Super Bowl, the New England Patriots still had a great season. They were able to have the best record in the AFC, and they played a very entertaining game against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl.

With such a great season came a lot of strong individual performances by players. Quarterback Tom Brady was able to have another fantastic season, as he was named the NFL MVP. In addition to Brady, other players like Rob Gronkowski, Dion Lewis, and Brandin Cooks all had great seasons on offense.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Patriots were able to overcome a bad start to the season, and a major injury to Dont’a Hightower and had a good season. Even though the defense didn’t show up in the Super Bowl, they did have a good season overall.

Recently, Pro Football Focus released their list of the Top 101 players from 2017. For the Patriots, they had five players make the list. Here are the players that made it, and their rankings.

2.) Tom Brady

8.) Rob Gronkowski

73.) Stephon Gilmore

75.) Trey Flowers

76.) Dion Lewis

As you can see, Brady was not the top player despite winning the MVP. On PFF’s list, it was Rams defensive tackle, Aaron Donald who was the highest graded player. As the best defensive player in the league, it wasn’t shocking to see Donald first.

Also in the Top 10 was tight end, Rob Gronkowski. After missing the playoffs the season before, Gronkowski was able to have a great comeback season, and proved that he is indeed still the best tight end in the league.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Patriots had both Stephon Gilmore and Trey Flowers make PFF’s list. This shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, as they were the top performers for the Patriots on the defensive side of the ball this past season.

Overall, it was very impressive to see the Patriots have five players make the list. With three players on offense and two on defense, it shows that the Patriots were quite balanced this past season. Even though they came up short of their ultimate goal, it was still a great season in New England.
