Rex Burkhead

Another player the Patriots are getting back from injury this week is running back Rex Burkhead. Burkhead has missed his fair share of games this season as well, as he has not seen the field since Week 15 against the Steelers when he injured his knee. He missed six games in all in the regular season but looks ready for the postseason.

That is good news for the Patriots and bad news for the Titans. Burkhead gives the Patriots offense a ton of versatility because they can line him up all over the place. He is an excellent receiver, even lining up in the slot on some occasions. Burkhead also gets the job done out of the backfield as both a receiver and ball carrier.

Expect the Patriots to try and exploit the yards after catch weakness the Titans have with Burkhead. The Titans have struggled at times defending running backs, so Burkhead should be in for a heavy workload if he is healthy and able.

Burkhead quickly turned into one of Tom Brady’s favorite targets when he was on the field. Expect that to continue this weekend against the Titans. Tennessee doesn’t have great coverage linebackers, so you can be sure the Patriots will look to exploit that weakness and Burkhead will be the beneficiary.
