5.) Trey Flowers

One of the top performers on the defensive side of the ball for the Patriots this season was Trey Flowers. Coming into the season, Flowers was expected to be the main pass rusher for the Patriots, and he did well this season.

Overall, Flowers totaled 6.5 sacks, which was first on the team. Considering that the Patriots didn’t generate a ton of pressure on opposing quarterbacks this season, Flowers was certainly a key member of the front.

According to Pro Football Focus, Flowers received a very high grade at 84.3. Only Stephon Gilmore received a higher grade from PFF on the Patriots defense. Compared to the rest of the league, Flowers was tied with Carlos Dunlap with the 24th highest grade. When grading just on his pass rushing abilities this season, Flowers was ranked 20th among edge defenders. Seeing Flowers ranked similarly overall to players like Dunlap and Oliver Vernon show just how talented this young player is already.

Even though his stats won’t blow you away, Flowers was one of the top pass rushers in the league, and he is certainly the best one of the Patriots. Hopefully, he will have some big performances in the playoffs again like he did last season.
