New England Patriots team grades vs Miami Dolphins Week 14
The Patriots passing offense is in a bit of a funk recently. Last week Tom Brady didn’t throw a touchdown as the team leaned on the running game to dispose of the Buffalo Bills. This week the team relied heavily on Brady’s arm and it didn’t work.
Brady had arguably his worst game of the season. He completed 24-of-43 passes for 233 yards. The only time he threw for fewer yards this season was the first matchup against the Dolphins. However, in that game, he threw for four touchdowns. This time around he threw only one touchdown with two interceptions.
The 59.5 rating is the lowest for Brady this season. The 35.1 QBR is the second-lowest mark of the season. The Dolphins were able to get Brady off his mark and rattle him right from the first drive.
Brady was without Rob Gronkowski this week, as he was suspended for his late hit against Tre’Davious White last week. His absence hurt as the Patriots were unable to get anything going.
Brady was tormented by Xavien Howard all evening. Howard had both interceptions and locked down Brandin Cooks. Danny Amendola was the only wide receiver with multiple receptions for the Patriots.
The passing game was a disaster for the Patriots. Brady was sacked twice and his six times. The Patriots will need a better performance through the air next week if they want to keep up with the Steelers.
