New England Patriots: Rob Gronkowski has great all-around game
By Nick Ziegler
On Sunday, the New England Patriots were able to pick up yet another win as they defeated the Miami Dolphins. In that game, Rob Gronkowski had one of his best all-around games of the season.
Against the Miami Dolphins, the New England Patriots were able to continue their winning ways with an 18-point win at home. The win for the Patriots was very important, as they look to keep pace with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the best record in the AFC. The Patriots almost caught a big break on Sunday night, as the Steelers were nearly upset by the Green Bay Packers at home.
Even though the Patriots did not play a clean game against the Dolphins, they were able to earn a win. As large favorites, the Patriots handled their business, but the Dolphins were able to make it a bit closer than the Patriots would have liked for much of the game.
In the win, one of the best players for the Patriots was tight end Rob Gronkowski. So far this season, Gronkowski is proving to be the best tight end in football yet again, and his performance against the Dolphins was one of his best this season. Against Miami, Gronkowski totaled five receptions, 82 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns. According to Pro Football Focus, Gronkowski was the best player for the Patriots on Sunday. Here’s what they had to say about his performance.
"Gronkowski was his usual dominant self in the passing game, catching five passes on eight targets for 82 yards and two touchdowns. He gained 27 of those yards after the catch and averaged a very impressive 2.83 yards per route run. But it was his run-blocking where he was most impressive. Gronkowski consistently sealed his edge and made impressive blocks en route to a team-high 95.7 run-block grade."
Gronkowski finished with a 90.4 overall grade in the game, which was the highest on the Patriots. As mentioned by PFF, Gronkowski was a really good blocker on Sunday, as he certainly helped Dion Lewis have one of his best games of the season.

Even though many associate Gronkowski with just being a great offensive weapon, many forget the type of blocker that he can be. New England was able to rush for nearly 200 yards against Miami, and that doesn’t happen without some good blocks from your tight ends.
With the season that Gronkowski is having, it should come as no surprise to see him as one of the favorites to win the Comeback Player of the Year award this season.
