New England Patriots: Tom Brady named to PFF mid-season All-Pro team
By Nick Ziegler
Pro Football Focus recently released their mid-season All-Pro team. On offense, their quarterback was New England Patriots starter, Tom Brady.
Despite a slow start to the season, the New England Patriots are right where they want to be after eight games. With a 6-2 record through eight games, the Patriots are on top of the AFC East and are one of the best teams in the entire conference once again.
Even though they are 6-2, there were a lot of concerns early on this season for the Patriots. On the defensive side of the ball, the Patriots weren’t able to stop anyone in the first few weeks of the season. However, they seemed to have fixed some of their communication issues in the past few weeks.
When the defense was struggling for the Patriots, they were still able to win games because of their quarterback. After a great 2016 season, Brady has matched that performance this season, with an MVP-caliber first half.
Recently, Pro Football Focus released their mid-season All-Pro team. At quarterback was none other than Brady. Here’s what they had to say about him.
"Elite Stat: Brady fields the league’s highest passer rating when under pressure at 101.7, a full 7.0 points higher than the next closest QB.Tom Brady has once again set the standard for quarterback play in the NFL despite approaching the age players used to be inducted into the Hall of Fame at, let alone playing your best football. Brady has just eight turnover worthy plays all season, or 1.35 percent of his snaps, and has a passer rating over 100.0 both when kept clean in the pocket and when hurried."
Brady is certainly deserving of being the starting quarterback for the midseason All-Pro team. He has arguably been the best quarterback in the NFL so far this season, as he has totaled 16 touchdown passes and two interceptions.
Despite his pass protection being a bit poor at times this season, Brady has been able to thrive. If not for how well Brady has played this season, the Patriots certainly would not have a 6-2 record. With eight games still to go, Brady will be looking to build on his strong first half with an even better second half.

Even though the Patriots only had one player on the team, they certainly have a lot of talent that will be deserving of consideration by the end of the season. While individual accolades are nice, Brady and the Patriots will be focused on winning their sixth title.
