New England Patriots Running Back, Dion Lewis

The Patriots running back situation has been one to avoid for a majority of the season. It has been in flux, and with all four options now healthy it would seem to be one to avoid even more. However, Dion Lewis has taken the lead in the backfield.

Lewis has led the team in rushing yards for three consecutive weeks. He has seen his touches increase over that time as well as he is becoming the lead dog for rushing attempts. Lewis may not get goal line work like Mike Gillislee, but he receives enough work to warrant a fantasy football start.

Even with Rex Burkhead returning to the lineup last week, Lewis still managed to set a new season-high for rushing attempts. James White continued to dominate passing down work, but Lewis has shown in the past he is a capable pass catcher if need be.

The Chargers are middle of the road when it comes to surrendering fantasy points to running backs, ranking 15th in the NFL. However, they have given up double-digit scoring performances to six different running backs this season.

Both the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants had multiple running breaks get into double figures, so the Patriots could easily have more than one running back succeed this weekend for fantasy football owners.
