Loser No. 1: Tight End Dwyane Allen

When the Patriots traded for Dwayne Allen, plenty of people chalked this up to another steal for New England. No team seems to utilize tight ends like the Patriots do, so acquiring someone such as Allen to replace Martellus Bennett seemed to be a great move. Thus far, it has turned out to not produce much of anything.

Going all the way back to the first game of the season, Allen was missed by Brady on his first pass attempt. At least he was targeted in that game, as those have been tough to come by.

Despite Gronkowski being sidelined, Allen was not targeted in the passing game, which is pretty surprising. A tight end was targeted only once by Brady all night, as a pass intended for Jacob Hollister was knocked down at the line of scrimmage by Gerald McCoy.

Allen does not seem to have a role with the Patriots right now. A team that thrived with two tight ends when they had Aaron Hernandez paired with Gronkowski has seemed to move away from those tactics.

If Allen cannot contribute as a pass catcher, or even get a target, with Gronkowski sidelined, it is unlikely he will contribute any time soon.
