The 2017 Fantasy Football season heads into Week 2. What can we expect from Brandin Cooks of the New England Patriots against his former team?

For most players on the New England Patriots, the 2017 Fantasy Football season didn’t get off to a great start this season. In the loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, there were multiple players that disappointed in the game.

Overall, the Patriots’ passing offense didn’t do well. Even though the Patriots didn’t look good as a whole, newly acquired Brandin Cooks did alright in his debut. In the loss to the Chiefs, Cooks totaled three receptions and 88 receiving yards.

While it wasn’t a huge game for Cooks, he and Brady did connect on a 54-yard pass. Cooks is certainly a downfield threat for the Patriots, and seeing him have double digit catches in a game is going to be unlikely.

In Week 2, the Patriots will have a golden fantasy matchup against the New Orleans Saints. Cooks started his career with the Saints, playing his first three seasons with them. This offseason, the Saints traded Cooks to the Patriots in exchange for some draft picks.

Since Cooks is playing his former team, he will certainly be motivated to have a big week. Seeing how the Saints struggled against the Minnesota Vikings offense in Week 1, the Patriots must be licking their chops.

In the Saints’ loss to the Vikings, they allowed 346 passing yards to Sam Bradford. While Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs are good receivers, they aren’t in the same class as Cooks. Thielen was able to total 157 receiving yards, and Diggs chipped in with 93 receiving yards of his own.

Next: Week 2 fantasy projection for Tom Brady

With the Patriots coming into Week 2 hungry against a poor defense, it appears to be a perfect storm brewing. Expect to see a big game from Cooks against his former team.

Week 2 Projection: Seven receptions, 150 receiving yards, one touchdown
