Week 4: Home vs. Carolina Panthers

The fourth week of the season will feature an appealing matchup between the Carolina Panthers and the Patriots. After losing in the Super Bowl to the Denver Broncos, the Panthers had a rough season last year. Failing to make the playoffs was certainly a huge disappointment after the successful 2015 season.

In 2017, the Panthers will be trying to find that same success from two seasons ago, and the Patriots will be a huge test for them. As always, Cam Newton will be the first person that the Patriots will try to contain. As one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, Newton is versatile and can hurt a defense in multiple ways. While he is best-suited at getting the ball down the field for big plays, he now has a new weapon underneath.

One of the best picks on paper in the 2017 NFL Draft was the Panthers taking running back Christian McCaffrey. As a great receiver as well, McCaffrey is going to be a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. Containing both Newton and McCaffrey will be a tall order for the Patriots’ defense.

With this game being at home, the Patriots should be able to get their fourth win of the season.

Prediction: Panthers 23 Patriots 30
