New England Patriots vs. Kansas City Chiefs: Week 1 live tracker
By Nick Ziegler

The New England Patriots will be facing the Kansas City Chiefs to open the season on Thursday Night Football. Follow along with us on our live tracker.
On Thursday Night Football, the New England Patriots will be starting off their title defense at home against the Kansas City Chiefs. After what seemed like a quick offseason, the Patriots are well-prepared for what lies ahead.
This offseason, the Patriots arguably got better. The additions of Brandin Cooks to the offense and Stephon Gilmore to the defense helps make them a better team on paper. While those additions should be good for the team, they did suffer a big loss in the preseason.
Against the Detroit Lions, the Patriots saw wide receiver, Julian Edelman, go down with what ended up being a season-ending knee injury. As one of the best players on the team, the loss of Edelman will be a tough one for the Patriots. Luckily for Patriots, they have a lot of depth at the wide receiver position.
As the defending champs, the Patriots will be challenged very quickly this season. Last season, the Chiefs were one of the best teams in the AFC. As the AFC West Champions, the Chiefs will be trying to make a statement early on.
Like the Patriots, the Chiefs suffered a big blow in the offseason, as Spencer Ware went down with an injury as well. Running the football is key for the Chiefs, as their offense usually starts with a solid ground game. If they are unable to find their rushing attack against the Patriots without Ware, they could be in for trouble.
