New England Patriots: 4 player grades from Preseason Week 3
Like Adam Butler, Musket Fire co-named Cameron Fleming a ‘player to watch‘ in Friday’s game. Unfortunately for Fleming, his performance likely drew more wincing than applause as pass rushers blew by him on route for quarterback Tom Brady.
According to Doug Kyed, Fleming, who started at left tackle while Nate Solder rested, allowed five hurries and one quarterback hit versus Detroit. A strong showing from Fleming could have cemented his spot on New England’s roster, beating out LaAdrian Waddle for whom was also named a ‘player to watch’.

Fleming’s best play from Friday came on Chris Hogan’s first touchdown grab. He threw Lions defensive end Alex Barrett to the ground and eliminated any threat to Brady’s blindside.
Through three preseason games, Fleming has allowed 10 hurries, one quarterback hit, and no sacks, per Kyed. At this point in the preseason, he may have the edge over Waddle for New England’s final offensive tackle spot.
