Recent New England Patriots rumors are that they have lost wide receiver Julian Edelman for the rest of the season.

After the third preseason game of the season, recent Patriots rumors are not good for the team. Even though the Patriots got their first preseason win of the season, they suffered a crucial loss in their third preseason game.

Early in the first quarter, the Patriots suffered a huge blow when Julian Edelman went down with a non-contact injury. As many feared, Edelman appears to be done for the season.

This is a huge blow to the Patriots, as Edelman is one of their best players and a key member of the offense. Last season, Edelman played great, as he totaled 98 receptions, 1,106 receiving yards, and three receiving touchdowns.

With Edelman out, the Patriots are going to need some other players to step up. Luckily for the Patriots, they were able to acquire Brandin Cooks in the offseason. While many believed the Patriots didn’t need any more wide receivers. Now with the injury to Edelman, having a No.1 wide receiver like Cooks is needed.

In addition to Cooks, a player like Danny Amendola might have an increased role during the regular season. Amendola has had a knack for showing up for the Patriots in big games, as Tom Brady has a lot of confidence in him. Now, the Patriots will likely need him to be more of a factor in the regular season.

At 31-years-old, an ACL is certainly bad news for Edelman. Suffering a major injury like this north of 30 is not ideal at all for Edelman. As a player that relies on his quickness, Edelman will have a long recovery ahead of him.
