Patriots Rumors: Tom Brady and other starters expected to play vs Texans
By Nick Ziegler
Recent Patriots rumors have been about whether or not we will see the starters against the Houston Texans.
With the second preseason game almost here, recent Patriots rumors have been about whether or not we will see the starters against the Houston Texans.
Last week, the Patriots elected to rest nearly all of their veterans and starters against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Patriots ended up losing the meaningless game, but it gave the coaching staff a good opportunity to see the young guys play a bit.
According to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, many of the Patriots starters will be suiting up. Obviously, the biggest name of them is quarterback Tom Brady.
While preseason action for Brady isn’t the most important thing, Week 2 of the preseason is one of the few chances Brady will have to see game action. While next week against the Detroit Lions will be the true warm up for the Patriots, starters can expect to see a quarter or so against the Texans.
Since Brady does have some new weapons this offseason in Brandin Cooks, Dwayne Allen, and Rex Burkhead, he will likely be looking to get his new teammates involved.
Even though it is only the preseason, the Patriots’ offense will be facing a good defense in the Texans. Last season, New England was able to eliminate the Texans from the playoffs. However, this is a different looking team.
The Texans went all-in during the NFL Draft to move up and select Clemson quarterback, Deshaun Watson. As a dual-threat quarterback, it will certainly be good for the Patriots’ defense to face someone they might see in the playoffs.

While the starters likely won’t see extended playing time, it will be good for them to knock the rust off. As always in the preseason, hopefully, the Patriots are able to get through the game without any injuries.
