GLENDALE, AZ – DECEMBER 18: Wide receiver Brandin Cooks /

WR Brandin Cooks

The hype surrounding wide receiver Brandin Cooks has finally begun to materialize as the newest weapon in the Patriots’ arsenal makes flashes in training camp.

According to Jeff Howe, on Day 1, Cooks hauled in five passes from quarterback Tom Brady. CSN New England’s Tom Curran noted that Brady connected with Cooks on a “deep rainbow” pass in the Patriots first training camp session.

The former Saints wide receiver continued to make plays once the team put pads on. Mark Daniels reported that Cooks “split a double team for a long [touchdown] from [Jimmy] Garoppolo”.

Mike Clark (@mclark8185) shared this video of Cooks beating cornerback Justin Coleman for a touchdown during Saturday’s practice session:

CSN New England’s Mike Giardi quoted backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo praising the team’s new wide receiver, saying:

"“[Cooks is] fast, man. Probably one of the fastest* people I’ve seen in person.”"

On Thursday, NESN’s Zack Cox shared this video of Cooks “toasting” cornerback Cyrus Jones:

The Patriots offense looks better each time Cooks steps on the field. He’s had no trouble turning hype into reality so far in camp.
