New England Patriots: Bill Belichick is not worried about a perfect season
By Nick Ziegler
Coming into training camp, there has been a lot of 19-0 hype surrounding the New England Patriots. However, head coach Bill Belichick isn’t thinking that far ahead.
As the defending Super Bowl Champions, the New England Patriots have a lot of expectations to meet in 2017. While the 2016 Super Bowl team was very good, the 2017 squad looks even better on paper.
This offseason, the Patriots were not only able to address their needs, but they were also able to improve their roster. Normally, a Super Bowl winning team has a few big losses in free agency. While the Patriots did lose some talented players, they were able to replace them with others.
Because of the great offseason, many people have been predicting that the Patriots will be able to have a perfect season. It wasn’t too long ago that the Patriots were able to have a perfect regular season, only to see it spoiled by the New York Giants in the Super Bowl.
Last season, the Patriots didn’t have a perfect season, but they were 14-2 in the regular season, and Tom Brady only lost one game all season. With training camp here, head coach Bill Belichick was asked about the possibility of an undefeated season. Here’s what Belichick had to say.
"“Yeah, right now, we’re just trying to have a good day here today, get off to a good start in training camp,” Belichick replied to Phil Perry of CSNNE.com when asked about being “hyped to go undefeated.”“We’re not really worried about all that’s in the future. That will come when it comes.”"
In typical Patriots and Belichick fashion, he didn’t give much of an answer to possibly going undefeated. However, Belichick is certainly a perfectionist and will be making sure that his team is learning during training camp and the preseason.
With five Super Bowl victories as a head coach, Belichick will be seeking to repeat this season. While he will likely be more focused on winning a Super Bowl, an undefeated regular season along the way would be another great accomplishment.

Due to the Patriots having a somewhat easy schedule as defending champs, a perfect season isn’t impossible. With Belichick and Brady looking to grow their legacies, it will be interesting to see how hard the Patriots go for perfection.
