3. 2016 New England Patriots (14-2; Won Super Bowl LI)

This was one of the most talented Patriots teams in NFL history. However, there were also many missing pieces. It all started when Brady was suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season for his role in DeflateGate. The NFL accused Brady of deflating footballs in the 2014 AFC Championship game, a 45-7 win over the Indianapolis Colts.

New England went 3-1 without him. In Week 10, tight end Rob Gronkowski suffered an injury that kept him out the remainder of the season.

Despite being an incomplete team, New England finished 14-2 again and overcame a 28-3 deficit to defeat the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI.

Like the 2004 team, this Patriots team set several records. They surpassed the Oakland Raiders of the 1970s when they reached their sixth consecutive AFC Championship game. After defeating Pittsburgh, they were headed to their ninth Super Bowl, the most appearances for any team. Belichick also would be coaching his seventh Super Bowl, one more than great Miami Dolphins coach Don Shula.

When he played, Brady also had one of the best performances from any quarterback in NFL history. He threw for 3,554 yards, 28 touchdowns, and just two interceptions. The 28-2 ratio is the best touchdown to interception ratio in NFL history.
