Even in football, all good things must come to an end. Here are five players that will not be on the New England Patriots in 2018.

The New England Patriots are set to have sixteen unrestricted free agents hit the market following the 2017 season. A handful of players will be awarded extensions either throughout the season or shortly after, while others will dawn the Patriots uniform for the last time.

New England entered the 2016 offseason with the possibility of re-signing Chandler Jones, Jamie Collins, and Dont’a Hightower, but chose to retain only one. That didn’t stop them from winning the Super Bowl.

Through the draft and free agency, team’s address their future needs as much as they do their current. New England emphasized the offensive and defensive lines in the draft, an appropriate decision considering the future of the positions.

Rosters are like airports, each season brings new arrivals and departures. Whether it be age, production, or money, players and teams must do what is right for themselves.

The NFL is a business and change is inevitable. These are five Patriots who may not return in 2018.
