New England Patriots: Post-NFL Draft AFC East Power Rankings
By Nick Ziegler
The 2017 NFL Draft has come and gone. Did any team in the AFC East do enough to dethrone the New England Patriots in the power rankings?
As the defending Super Bowl Champions, the New England Patriots are poised for another great season in 2017. Even though they will have a target on their back, the Patriots have done very well in the offseason to ensure they have a chance to repeat.
Even though they didn’t have a pick in the first two rounds of the NFL Draft, the Patriots were still able to have a strong draft class despite making just four picks. The additions of players like Brandin Cooks, Kony Ealy, Mike Gillislee and Dwayne Allen for draft picks will help the Patriots immensely in 2017.
For the rest of the AFC East, it is all about trying to catch the Patriots. The New York Jets had the highest draft pick among AFC East teams, and they made a smart choice by selecting safety Jamal Adams. The Bills were supposed to be drafting next but elected to trade back to acquire more draft picks in the future.
As a playoff team last season, the Miami Dolphins knew that this draft was an important one for them to try and catch New England. The Dolphins had a pretty strong draft class, but was it enough to catch New England in the division?
With the NFL Draft behind us, here are an updated AFC East power rankings as we head toward the summer.
