New England Patriots: Free agents who could sign with defending Super Bowl champs
Jason McCourty, CB (age 29)
The Patriots opted to pass on taking a cornerback in this year’s draft and could instead look to sign a veteran free agent heading into camp. However, one familiar name on the market is Patriots safety Devin McCourty’s twin brother, Jason McCourty. The other McCourty will be entering his ninth season in the league since being drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the sixth round of the 2009 draft.
McCourty played in 14 games for the Titans last season after missing time in 2015 with a groin injury. He started all of those games for the Titans and finished the year with 59 tackles, two interceptions and a fumble recovery.
Devin McCourty said the following on his brother, per Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald:
"“I think obviously now everyone is saying ‘he’s going to come here, he should come here.’ But you never know. I hope we’re interested in him.”"
The Patriots currently have 10 cornerbacks on their roster. But four of them are 2017 undrafted free agents.
