Musket Fire’s Nick Ziegler projected Marquez White to New England in his mock draft:

"“Even though late-round picks often amount to nothing, the Patriots have a good history of finding gems. In the sixth round, we found some good value once again in Marquez White. At 6’0”, 194lbs, White has some good size for a cornerback. Unfortunately, that size resulted in him running a 4.59 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. Cornerback might be a need in the near future, and White could end up being a decent backup for the Patriots down the road.”"

If the Patriots were going to grab a wide receiver at any point in the draft, now would be the time. Instead of using the pick on a camp arm receiver, New England moved up and took a developable offensive lineman for Dante Scarnecchia. When your quarterback is going on 40, you buy him insurance, not a new sports car.

New England doubled up on defensive ends in this year’s draft with Derek Rivers and Deatrich Wise Jr., a defensive end taken at this point in the draft would be facing long odds at cracking the team’s roster. The Patriots traded for Michael Williams in the summer of 2015, he missed 2016 due to an injury.
