Heading into Day 3 of the 2017 NFL Draft, here is our live tracker to keep you up-to-date on the New England Patriots.
It has been a busy offseason for the New England Patriots after winning their fifth Super Bowl. New England did a very good job in the offseason either keeping or replacing key players on their team.
The Patriots were without a pick in the first two rounds because of two offseason trades. The first trade sent the Patriots’ first overall pick to the New Orleans Saints for wide receiver Brandin Cooks. Following that deal, the Patriots acquired Kon Ealy and the Panthers’ third round pick.
In the third round, the Patriots were active as they traded back in a deal with the Titans. After making their first pick of Derek Rivers, the Patriots then traded up in the third round to select Antonio Garcia. While neither player played at a major school, they both appear to be solid picks for New England.
Even though the Patriots got off to a strong start in the NFL Draft, there is still work to do. Here are the picks that the Patriots currently have going into the final day of the draft.
Patriots Picks:
4th Round: 131st overall — DE Deatrich Wise
6th Round: 211th overall– OT Connor McDermott
Since the Patriots addressed a need for depth on their offensive line, the final day of the draft will likely be geared toward the defensive side of the ball. The Patriots could use cornerbacks, linebackers, and possibly another edge rusher still.
