7          Thomas Welch    OT       Vanderbilt     Grade: D+

Failing to make the roster coming out of Vanderbilt, Welch returned to New England in 2011 and played in a few games for the team. Not a lot of return for a draftee but at least they gleaned something from the pick.

7          Brandon Deaderick     DE       Alabama     Grade: B

A 7th round pick represented good value for a player that played in ten or more games in his first three seasons for the team. His five sacks also helped his cause. He never really excelled in his role and was a decent backup player and nobody was really surprised when the Patriots decided to move on from him in 2013. He spent time with the Jaguars, Saints, Texans and Bills since leaving and is currently a free agent. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was signed at some point as an experienced camp body in 2017.

7          Kade Weston      DT       Georgia     Grade: F

Weston never played a down for the Patriots and spent his first season on Injured Reserve. He was given a chance to prove himself the following season but was cut during camp. He later spent time with the Colts and Steelers.
