New England Patriots: Who are Two Ideal Prospects in 2017 NFL Draft?
By Nick Ziegler
The Move the Sticks podcast recently named the ideal two draft picks for all 32 NFL teams. Who were the choices for the New England Patriots?
After winning their fifth Super Bowl, the New England Patriots are attempting to repeat as champions this season.
This offseason, the Patriots traded both their first and second-round picks in the NFL Draft. However, they were able to acquire Brandin Cooks from the New Orleans Saints for their first round pick. Also, the trade the brought Kony Ealy to New England also brought the Patriots the Panthers’ third round pick for their second round pick.
With two picks in the third round, that is where the Patriots will be focusing on getting some players. On the Move the Sticks podcast, Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks had cornerback Cam Sutton and defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon as the ideal picks for the Patriots. Here’s what they had to say about the two players.
"Brooks on Sutton: I love Sutton’s versatility. We saw him play corner, nickel, and safety at the Senior Bowl. Bill Belichick asks his players to play a lot of different roles, and their roles might change on a weekly basis. Sutton has the ability to fulfill those duties.Jeremiah on Kpassagnon: Kpassagnon is a physical specimen. He’s a tall, muscled-up athlete. He’s raw, but once he figures things out, he could be a dominant defensive lineman."
Considering the situation with cornerback Malcolm Butler, adding another cornerback in the draft seems likely for the Patriots. Due to the poor rookie season for Cyrus Jones, the Patriots might need to find a replacement for him.

In addition to adding a cornerback, the Patriots could also use some depth at defensive end. With the departure of Chris Long and Jabaal Sheard in free agency, the Patriots will look to add some depth at that position.
Even though the Patriots don’t have a pick in the first two rounds of the draft, they should still be able to get some talented players in the draft.
