The New England Patriots have the greatest quarterback of all-time in Tom Brady. With rumors that backup Jimmy Garappolo could be on his way elsewhere in 2018, maybe New England could look at a quarterback in the draft. If they could get him mid to late draft, Brad Kaaya would be a perfect fit.

Brad Kaaya is entering the NFL draft after playing three seasons of college football at the University of Miami (FL). In all three of those seasons, Kaaya threw for over 3,000 yards. His career high came in 2016, when he threw for 3,532 yards.

If Kaaya were to be drafted by the New England Patriots, and if Brady ever missed time, he would have even better targets around him. He could prove himself by being successful with the wide receivers around him. Kaaya could be a 5,000 yard passer if he made it work with Rob Gronkowski, Chris Hogan, Julian Edelman, Brandin Cooks and all the other receivers he would have around him.

With Garappolo still being on the team, Kaaya would have to ride the bench for a year. During the 2017 season, he could observe how Brady succeeds so well. When his chance comes, he would know how to succeed with what he learned watching Brady.

What else makes this work is Kaaya’s projection. According to walterfootball.com, he is expected to land between the fourth and sixth rounds. Since New England isn’t that desperate for a quarterback, that would be a perfect scenario should Kaaya still be available then.

Any interest for the Patriots in drafting a quarterback would likely depending on what happens with Garoppolo. If the Patriots do end up trading Garoppolo, they will likely have some interest in adding a third quarterback. With Brady still playing at a high level and planning too for years to come, using a high draft pick would be unlikely. However, Kaaya could be an excellent fit in the mid-rounds.
