The 2017 NFL Draft is about one month away. What are the strengths and weaknesses for defensive lineman Solomon Thomas of Stanford?

With the 2017 NFL Draft nearly here, we are starting to get an idea of what the NFL Draft might look like. While there could still be trades that shake things up, we are getting a better idea of where prospects should be taken.

This year, it is all about defense early in the draft. While Myles Garrett is the popular pick to be selected No.1 overall, there is another defensive lineman that is an excellent player. With Garrett getting all of the attention, defensive lineman Solomon Thomas has gone under the radar as the second best defensive lineman in the class.

Thomas played just two years at Stanford, but he proved that he was an excellent player last season. In 2016, Thomas totaled 8.5 sacks, 14 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries.

Even though Stanford didn’t have the season they hoped for, Thomas certainly did. In his final game as a college player, Thomas really impressed against North Carolina in their bowl game. The quarterback for North Carolina is another potential high pick in Mitch Trubisky.

After playing Thomas, Trubisky certainly believes that he is a top prospect. In the Stanford win, Thomas totaled seven tackles, two tackles for loss, and a sack. For a final audition for the NFL, it was certainly a memorable performance for Thomas.

After a really strong junior season at Stanford, there is a lot to like about Thomas. Adding a little more size wouldn’t be the worst thing as he transitions into the NFL, but that should come time. With Garrett being the likely No.1 overall pick, Thomas shouldn’t have to wait long to hear his name called.

It shouldn’t come as any surprise to see two defensive linemen being selected with the first two picks in the draft. Even though he hasn’t received a lot of attention, don’t sleep on Thomas.
