One of the many signings that New England Patriots made this offseason was keeping Duron Harmon. After a strong season, he is very happy to be back.

After winning the Super Bowl, the New England Patriots had a lot of free agents that they needed to sign. On the defensive side of the ball, safety Duron Harmon was one of them.

Even though Harmon isn’t a starting safety for the Patriots, he plays a big role on their defense. The Patriots frequently use three safeties on the field at the same time, with Harmon playing center field. One of the reasons why Harmon wanted to return was because of how well the Patriots utilize him.

"“That’s one of the reasons I wanted to come back; they know how to use me and get the best out of me,” Harmon told Mike Reiss of ESPN.com. “I’m going to continue to grow, being a part of this defense.”"

This offseason, Harmon is going to be trying to add a few extra pounds to become a complete player. While Harmon did excel in coverage, he wasn’t as good against the run.

"“I’ll try it out at OTAs and minicamp and see how I feel and like moving around a little heavier,” he said to Reiss.“In the end, coming back to New England is ultimately what I wanted to do. I love it here. I have built a lot of relationships here with people outside of football. My kids go to school here,” he said. “Being part of this organization means a lot to me. I love playing for Coach Belichick. I love being part of Mr. Kraft’s team. In the end, coming back here wasn’t a hard decision.”"

Staying in New England is clearly where Harmon wanted to be. He might have been able to make some more money, elsewhere, but New England has become home.

On the field, Harmon likely could have been a starter on other teams next season. However, he appears to like his role with New England, and it has certainly worked out well for him.
