WHO ARE THESE GUYS?

Matt Lengel:

Lengel came over from Cincinnati and the giant tight end had to receptions and his first career touchdown in 2016. An exclusive rights free agent, he is back if the Patriots saw enough to bring him to camp. Expect Lengel back in camp in 2017 fighting for a job.

Greg Scruggs:

Scruggs was a converted defensive end who was brought in for depth at tight end. Unfortunately for Scruggs, he spent the season on injured reserve with a knee injury. Scruggs was a longshot to begin with and is likely not be back.

Michael Williams:

Williams was a valuable member of the 2015 Patriots as a blocking tight end. The converted offensive tackle tore his ACL in training camp and spent the season on injured reserve. Williams is also an exclusive rights free agent so the Patriots can bring him back for next to nothing and see if he can find a role on the squad in 2017.
