4. Green Bay Packers

With Jared Cook reaching free agency in March, the Packers could be looking for an upgrade at tight end. Enter Martellus Bennett.

The Green Bay Packers are sure to be looking his way when free agency arrives. They would have $31 million dollars when free agency opens, and will be a prime candidate for Bennett. With Jared Cook missing 7 games this season, Bennett can give stability at the position for a few years.

Even though he dealt with his own assortment of injuries this year, Bennett fought through them to play all 16 games (including all post-season action).

No team knows the star tight end better after facing him in the NFC North for 3 seasons. The possibilities are endless with this Green Bay squad, and acquiring Bennett would be a big step in the right direction. Aaron Rodgers needs pass protection, and a tight end like Bennett could be what he needs. It would give him time he needs to make throws, and not rely heavily on scrambling out of the pocket after blown assignments.

It may be a long shot, but it’s something the Packers can fall back on if they know they won’t be re-signing Jared Cook.
