New England Patriots: 5 Landing Spots for Josh McDaniels in 2018
By Hunter Davis
2. Chicago Bears
2 years under head coach John Fox has garnered no fan interest or appraisal. The amount of losses, and the lack of talent taken with early picks has to worry fans. The lackluster defense and under-performing offense with quarterback Jay Cutler is embarrassing for the franchise.
So throw in a coordinator widely viewed as the top in the league, and a young quarterback, whether it be Garoppolo or an early pick, and you got yourself an offense. Add that up with a young promising wide receiver in Alshon Jeffrey, and the oft too injured Kevin White, and you can surround your new QB with some weapons. The Bears cutting Cutler would free up some major cap space that McDaniels can use to build onto the already promising offense.
With a young RB in Jordan Howard who is sure to excite the franchise, and may entice McDaniels to leave his cozy spot in New England, the Bears can create a lethal offense to compete with those in the NFC North. Also, the chance to have a top 5 pick in your first year as head coach helps as well.
John Fox does have one more year to prove to the Chicago franchise that he is the answer, but if he doesn’t, McDaniels may be the first one they call in.
