 4. New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints signed head coach Sean Payton to a contract extension last offseason, after news he was departing was getting rampant. News that Sean Payton wanted out of New Orleans ran even as early as this season with the Los Angeles Rams firing head coach Jeff Fischer. It is clear that his time in New Orleans is running out.

Now why would Josh McDaniels be attracted to the team? It has an aging great quarterback who can play at least 2 more seasons with the chance to groom a young quarterback. Sound familiar, that’s because it’s the same situation he is in now.

With cap and roster flexibility, Josh McDaniels would have the chance to mold the roster into his own system. He would also have the ability to choose his own quarterback through the draft. Unlike most bad teams that are strapped with a bad quarterback, (see: Texans, Houston) the Saints would provide flexibility.

It seems like the most likely spot come next year, but for now the Saints are willing to stick it out with their current coaching situation.
