#6. January 16, 2016 New England Patriots 27 Kansas City Chiefs 20

Despite losing four out of their last six regular season games, the Patriots rebounded by beating a Chiefs team which was riding a wave of momentum. Winners of 11 straight, the Chiefs improbably 2015 season came to an end in Foxborough as the Patriots methodically controlled the clock and held Kansas City to field goals instead of touchdowns in the first half.

Tom Brady threw for 302 yards and two touchdowns, 100 of those yards going to Julian Edelman who hadn’t played in a game since Week 11 after suffering a broken foot. The Patriots advanced to their fifth consecutive AFC Championship game, where they again met the Broncos in Denver for the second time in three seasons, losing 20-18 in a defensive slugfest
