New England Patriots wide receiver Michael Floyd didn’t play against the Denver Broncos. However, he learned a lot traveling with his new team.

The New England Patriots were recently able to claim wide receiver Michael Floyd off waivers from the Arizona Cardinals. Due to a DUI arrest, the Cardinals decided to part ways with the young wide receiver.

Prior to the release, Floyd was having a down season for the Cardinals. However, the Patriots’ coaching staff including offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is excited to have him on the team.

“He’s done a nice job, he has a great attitude, so we look forward to getting out there in practice and really being able to get acclimated to one another,” McDaniels said to Mike Reiss of ESPN.com. “I like his attitude and his approach. He was into it and excited to be here, and we’re excited to have him.”

Floyd joined the team early in the week and traveled with them to Denver. While it was hard to expect Floyd to play on Sunday, It was important to get him with his new teammates to learn the system.

“It’s a long trip, we went out Friday night, so we were there Friday night, all day Saturday and later into the day Sunday, so we were able to spend quite a bit of time with him going over things — he could watch film, come back and ask questions,” relayed Belichick via Reiss. “And also get to know some of his teammates, and spend time with them.”

With a short week, Floyd will once again not have the luxury of having a full week to prepare. With two games left in the regular season, the Patriots would surely hope for Floyd to be able to play against the Jets.

“We look forward to getting out there in practice and really being able to get acclimated to one another. The most important thing is that our players feel comfortable when they’re in the huddle together and that we’re asking them to do things that they feel good about, so we’ll begin on that process again this week and continue to try to grow and build.”
