With no game to wake up to one Sunday, there is no better time to look back at the first half the season and check up on the Patriots top offseason additions..

As usual the Patriots did not go for big money players during free agency or through making trades. Players that fit into the system and have good value (small contracts) are often the top targets. This year the addition of Bears tight end Martellus Bennett and former Bills wide receiver Chris Hogan fit the criteria. There also was the addition of Chris Long from the Rams to help replace Chandler Jones.

From the draft the Patriots started their sections with Cyrus Jones in the 2nd and OL Joe Thuney in the third. There is also the young undrafted rookie Woodrow Hamilton who recently was added to the roster from the practice squad. Overall the Patriots signed 7 of their 9 draft picks to the active roster for the regular season.

We will look at the top 5 additions to the Patriots the season and how they have impacted the team.
