Patriots Players to Watch in Week 2: Malcolm Mitchell

This writer is very keen on the rookie out of Georgia, as he is longer than his 6-foot-1 frame suggests and runs routes on a dime. In Week 1, Malcolm Mitchell factored into the aerial attack; he recovered after dropping his first NFL target on a crossing pattern, snagging two passes, one of which went for 28 yards.

Mitchell possesses a ton of potential, and the Patriots may start tapping into it starting this week. With Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola and Chris Hogan demanding the majority of attention in the Patriots’ receiving corps, Mitchell can be identified as a target who could slip under the radar. If he’s paired against rookie Xavien Howard, for instance, Mitchell will have no shortage of opportunities to get open and make noise in the passing game.

Fantasy football players may want to consider stowing away Mitchell on their bench, as he is a breakout game away from becoming a top add.
