4. Jonathan Freeny

5. Kamu Grugier-Hill

Before Jonathan Freeny received a two-year extension last week, this writer had Elandon Roberts making the team. But since the Patriots have displayed a clear interest in retaining Freeny over the long-term, we have to include the Rutgers product on the final Patriots depth chart at linebacker. As for Mingo, we’re not quite sure if he will play linebacker or defensive end, but the Patriots have listed him as a linebacker on their official roster, so we place him in the No. 3 role behind another 6-foot-4 linebacker, Collins.

5 reasons why Jamie Collins will win Defensive Player of the Year

We can’t forget about Grugier-Hill, who offers potential as a hybrid linebacker safety and whose size at 6-foot-2, 220 pounds is very intriguing on special teams. From the time the Patriots drafted him, Grugier-Hill more or less had a spot waiting for him on the final roster.
