SPECIAL TEAMS

Kicker: Stephen Gostkowski

Punter: Ryan Allen

Long snapper: Joe Cardona

Specialists: Brandon King, Matthew Slater, Nate Ebner

No surprises here. The Patriots are fortunate to have one of the NFL’s best kickers and a top-ten punter in Stephen Gostkowski and Ryan Allen. The latter has another talent; apparently, Ryan is also an elite holder, according to Gostkowski. When he is punting, Ryan receives consistent snaps from Cardona, who was given the approving nod from the Navy to play for the Patriots in 2016.

King, Slater and Ebner could be placed on the depth charts of their proper positions, but they make their mark almost entirely on special teams, so we talk about them here. If last season was any indication, King is the slated to become the next Slater. As for Slater himself, he is shooting for a fifth consecutive Pro Bowl appearance, and Ebner is primed to make impact after his Olympic experience.
