Barkevious Mingo to Patriots: Reflecting on Patriots 2013 rookie class
6. Aaron Dobson (No. 59 overall)
Games: 24
Games started: 13
Career stats: 53 receptions, 698 yards, 13.2 yards per catch, four touchdowns
Dobson has been one of the more frustrating yet promising wide receivers the Patriots have drafted in the Bill Belichick era. It seems like every August, Dobson draws raves reviews at camp only to get hurt or tail off during the regular season. The bulk of Dobson’s production came in his rookie year of 2013, when he snagged 37 passes for 519 yards and all four of those career touchdowns; since then, he’s played in just 12 games.

Dobson is competing for the fifth and final spot on the Patriots’ wide receiver depth chart. Along with the likes of Keshawn Martin, Chris Harper, DeAndre Carter and Devin Lucien, Dobson hopes to file in behind Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, Chris Hogan and Malcolm Mitchell. Let’s hope that in his fourth season, Dobson can emerge as the deep threat the Patriots had in mind when they took him seven picks after Collins.
