Barkevious Mingo to Patriots: Reflecting on Patriots 2013 rookie class
8. Jonathan Cooper (No. 7 overall)
Games: 24
Games started: 11
Cooper’s NFL career suffered an unfortunate beginning when the UNC standout sat out the entirety of 2013 due to injury. Much like Mingo, Cooper is looking to right the ship by starting fresh in New England. It’s pretty funny to think that despite electing not to use a first round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Pats have managed to salary the No. 6 and No. 7 overall picks. That’s some sly work.
Analyzing Nate Washington, E.J. Biggers releases
There hasn’t been an update on Cooper’s July injury in three weeks, but the general thought was that he would contend for the right guard spot with Josh Kline and Shaq Mason. Right now, it’s looking like that battle is between Kline and Mason, with Mason leading the charge as of late. Cooper will have some work to do when he gets back.
