6. James White

While Blount provides the pounding, White will be the finesse guy for Garoppolo. With Dion Lewis out or the majority of the regular season (and thus the entirety of Garoppolo’s starting spell), White will be the primary pass catcher out of the backfield. Most likely, he will be a regular option for Garoppolo as he works through his reads, checking down to the third-year pro when needed.

28 days until kickoff: Profiling No. 28 James White

This writer is a big fan of White; while he is not what Lewis was during the first half of the 2015 regular season, he is certainly as good as a hobbled Lewis would be these days. He wasn’t called “Sweet Feet” in college for nothing. You may remember that White scored on a screen pass against the Tennessee Titans in Week 15; that was truly a thing of beauty, watching White calmly secure the ball, make a few decisive cuts and then outrun the Titans defenders. Hopefully, White replicates that kind of play, which would help out his quarterbacks (both of them) in 2016.
