Cornerbacks (5): Malcolm Butler, Logan Ryan, Cyrus Jones, Justin Coleman, Jonathan Jones

Practice squad: Darryl Roberts, Cre’von Leblanc

Cut: E.J. Biggers, V’Angelo Bentley

The change here from last week is the insertion of undrafted rookie Jones into the No. 5 spot, bumping out Biggers. Jones, an Auburn product, is emulating 2015 undrafted Auburn defensive back Brandon King by standing out in training camp. He has athleticism for days, and quickness to help make up for his undersized 5-foot-9 stature.

Power ranking offseason cornerback additions

You see that Roberts and LeBlanc make the practice squad. Roberts is too intriguing of a sophomore pro to cut loose entirely, even if he loses out on the No. 5 job to the undrafted rookie Jones, Meanwhile, LeBlanc’s physicality and sticky coverage skills make him a promising prospect down the road; he just needs a redshirt year to get his bearings on the NFL and develop in the Patriots’ system.
