Running backs (5): LeGarrette Blount, James White, Donald Brown, Brandon Bolden, James Develin

Practice squad: D.J. Foster

Cut: Joey Iosefa, Tyler Gaffney

Dion Lewis is the name missing from this list, and that is because it is looking increasingly likely that the ACL-recovering running back will begin 2016 on the PUP list. That opens the door for free agent signing Brown to prove his worth in the Patriots’ offense.

Patriots Position Switch: Dion Lewis as cornerback?

Meanwhile, look for White to take a larger role in the aerial attack as the primary pass receiving running back. Word out of camp is that White is taking this opportunity by the horns.

Foster figures to make the practice squad, as he is underdeveloped yet holds immense potential. However, Iosefa will lose out on the power back/fullback role to the veteran Develin, and Gaffney will be the odd man out.
