We’re entering the third week of New England Patriots training camp, and while there is still much to be determined about the current 90-man roster, we have gotten a better idea of what the final 53-man version will look like.

As the Patriots prime for joint practices with the New Orleans Saints leading up to the Thursday preseason game, here is an updated roster prediction based upon who’s been hot and who’s not been hot as of late. For another opinion, be sure to check out the latest roster projection from my co-editor, Cyrus Geller.

Quarterbacks (2): Jimmy Garoppolo, Jacoby Brissett

No change here from our prior Patriots roster prediction. Tom Brady will spend the first four weeks of the season removed from the team, allowing the Patriots to take Brissett on the active roster. Garoppolo will take the starting reins in Week 1, barring some unforeseen circumstance occurring in the meantime.

Jimmy Garoppolo is on fire in Patriots training camp

It will be interesting to see how the Patriots distribute snaps at the quarterback position in preseason games. Seeing as how he will be barred from team activities for four weeks, Brady will probably get a good share of playing time. Garoppolo will need his reps too, of course, and Brissett will definitely get some looks for the Patriots to see what they have in the North Carolina State product.
