Here’s a projection of the AFC Playoff Seeding:

  1. New England Patriots (12-4)
  2. Pittsburgh Steelers* (12-4)
  3. Kansas City Chiefs (11-5)
  4. Houston Texans (10-6)
  5. Cincinnati Bengals (11-5)
  6. Denver Broncos* (11-5)

*The Steelers are the 2nd seed because they lost to the Patriots in Week 7. However, if Steelers beat the Patriots, then it would be in reverse order. This could also force the Patriots to have to play their starters during Week 17 to secure the #1 seed, depending on how important they view home-field.

*The Broncos are in the final seed thanks to their defense. It’s that good.

Final Thought:

Again, these are all projections based what it looks like on paper. In football, the one golden rule that every football team must abide by is: “It’s any given Sunday“.

For all we know, the Patriots could go 7-9 even with Brady back. They could also go 3-1 or 4-0 in the first 4 games of the season, but the likelihood of that happening is quite slim.

Regardless of the turnout of the regular season, there are plenty of games to look forward to and enjoy. It does hurt to not have Brady for the beginning of the season, but who knows how the season will end.
