4. Tyeler Davison is standing out among defensive tackles.

Second-year man Davison appears to be making the Year 2 leap. After posting 26 tackles and 1.5 sacks over five starts in 16 regular season appearances last year, Davison seems to have improved by leaps and bounds. John DeShazier of Saints.com noted how impressed Sean Payton has been with the sophomore pro:

"I’d say that he’s really at a good weight right now He’s been noticeable on film at the nose. He is a guy that is extremely athletic and can (also) move. He has made some plays down the line of scrimmage. I’m encouraged to continue to watch his progress because right now, I think he’s putting together a really good training camp."

A good start to training camp won’t mean much, however, if Davison can’t keep up the good work in intense joint practice action with the Patriots. To unseat Nick Fairley atop the Saints’ defensive tackle depth chart, Davison must keep feeding the fire, and that starts with a strong showing against the likes of Joe Thuney, Ted Karras, Shaq Mason, Josh Kline and David Andrews.
