Chris Harper was a surprise star of training camp and the preseason last season as an undrafted rookie free agent and caught on with the practice squad to open the season. Activated for the Patriots’ first trip to Denver due to injuries at wide receiver, the five-foot-eleven and 185 pound wide receiver looked star-struck under the bright lights. He struggled to get open and had a costly fumble as a punt returner.

With a year under his belt, Harper comes into training camp with some maturity. Harper has been reliable and continues to put himself into the conversation for a roster spot. He has stood out in training camp playing outside in place of Nate Washington after spending much of last year at slot wide receiver.

A solid preseason and the added flexibility to play inside and outside could put Harper on equal footing with Keshawn Martin in the competition for a final roster spot this summer.
