New England Patriots Wide Receivers Shaping Up as Best Battle in Training Camp
By Hal Bent
The perpetual tease has been young veteran wide receiver Aaron Dobson. At six-foot-three and 205 pounds the 2013 second-round draft choice out of Marshall has the size and athletic ability to be the outside threat the offense has been searching for since jettisoning Randy Moss. Dobson is has been a standout throughout the spring mini-camps and in training camp so far this summer.
What if Jimmy G pulls a Tommy B?
Now that the pads are on and the preseason games are coming up, Dobson has to find a way to stay healthy and maintain his momentum. With Brandon LaFell let go over the offseason, in his final year on his rookie contract Dobson may have the chance to step-up again in the offense. Look to see if Dobson can maintain chemistry with fellow back-up Jimmy Garoppolo in the preseason.
Right now–improbable as it may have seemed at the end of last season–Dobson is in the lead to carve out a major role in the offense lining-up outside the numbers in 2016.
